Homework will normally be set every Monday to be handed in on Friday. We will be focusing on ReadingSpelling and  Arithmetic practice

In Year 6, we know how important Reading is to develop the children in all subjects. Therefore we expect the children to read for at least 15 minutes each day, 5 times per week as part of your their homework. The children can read a book from the Class Library, School Library or a book from home. In Year 6, it is still important to do a mixture of independent reading and reading with an adult and for your child to independently record their opinions about the book in their Reading Record. This must still be signed by an adult.

11.11.22- This week we had a wonderful time on our History trip to Purfleet Heritage Centre. The volunteers were so helpful and knowledgeable and we loved getting to hold and wear real life artefacts

7.11.22- This week in Science, we used the electricity equipment to build working circuits using a variety of electrical components.

4.11.22- This week in English, we hot-seated characters from our new Class Text, Stay Where You Are and Then Leave by John Boyne. We tried to really understand how they would be feeling following the reveal that Georgie had joined the Army.

17.10.22- This week in English, we have been performing our favourite poems from Jacqueline Woodson's Locomotion; we had no idea that poems could be like this!

11.10.22- This week, in Science, we learnt about and investigated shadows. We measured the length of our shadows at different times during the school day.

27.9.22- This week, in Science, we investigated how refraction changes the direction in which light travels.

22.9.22- This week, in Science, we investigated how light reflects by completing two experiments.

21.9.22- This week, in PE, we continued to work on passing using a ball and a hockey stick. We also started to work on scoring goals.

20.9.22- This week, in RE, we read a Bible Passage called The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) and held a mock trial to decide if the son should be allowed to be welcomed back into his family.

12.9.22- This week in English, we have been looking at poems by Michael Rosen and Charles Causley. We then worked in groups to perform these in Readers Theatre.
