Expectations for Year 2

Reading of your Phonics book, 5 times per week and signing your reading record to reflect this.   It is important to support your child with daily reading as this has a huge impact on their understanding, imagination, creativity and learning across all subjects. In Year 2, it is important to also read to your child books that maybe beyond their reading level-the children will take home a reading for pleasure book, which they choose for themselves.   

Homework is set on a Friday each week and is due in the following Wednesday. Homework will usually consist of Spellings which will be given out on a Monday and a piece of Maths homework which will either be sent as a worksheet. Occasionally, children may be asked to bring in photos for our RE topics.

~Our Weekly Learning Focus~

Week Beginning 22nd April 2024.

Writing

In Writing this week we will be looking at imperative verbs and linking this to writing instructions on how to cross the road.

Reading:

In Reading this week, we will be continuing to read the story The Hodgeheg by Dick King Smith.  With this being a chapter book we will be it together as a class as well has partner reading and independent reading.  

Maths:

In Maths this week, we will be looking at fractions, in particular finding 1/4 and 1/2.

RE:

In RE this week, we will be reading scripture from the Bible about Pentacost as well as learning about the importance of spreading the Good News.

Please be reminded that Year 2 have P.E. on a Thursdays.

Please ensure children have the correct uniform - PE for Thursday, and the winter uniform, no more polo's only shirts and ties please.
