Week beginning 22.1.18
This week we will be continuing to read 'floodland'. We will be dramatising parts of the story and empathising with characters and writing in role. We will continue estimating and calculating angles. Some children will be solving problems involving fractions and percentages.
As part of our extreme weather topic we will learn how weathers vary around the World, and will continue to compose music using weather as our inspiration and create our own version of 'The Great Wave' by Hokusai.
We will be investigating water resistance and explaining air resistance in science. In RE, we will decide on our favourite scriptures within the Old Testament.
We are continuing to investigate algorithms using Scratch.
To keep ourselves fit this term, we are developing flight in PE.
Year 6 had some different pupils on Monday afternoon! We invited our parents and grandparents in to let them see what we do in maths. We solved problems, completed investigations and showed off our calculation skills to the adults. Everybody enjoyed the themselves. The children relished the challenge of demonstrating their skills and the parents appreciated the chance to see us learning in school. Thank you for supporting us.
We had a very noisy day on Thursday with our Samba Music Day. We learnt to play new instruments and practised rhythms. At the end of the day we performed for each other. We were all very interested and learnt lots about Samba that we will use in our lessons. Please see the newsletter for more details.
