Introducing the Sunshine Centre

I write to you all to introduce myself as the Information Officer for Thurrock for those of you that I haven’t already met. I work as part of the team for disabled children here at Thurrock Council but work out of the Sunshine Centre in Tilbury.

I have attached a new poster that we have produced to show the clubs that we currently run from Sunshine Centre and now Hannah’s Place which serves the older age groups.

We  do a lot more than offer short breaks and respite: We also provide training for professionals and parents for: SKIP – Screening Kids for Intervention and Prevention training, Signalong communication training, Positive Parenting, Travel and adjustment training to name but a few.

In addition we offer a Playscheme which we will be running throughout the Summer break. We run daily sessions for children that have a diagnosed disability, the form is on line to complete to book your spaces and will be going live in the next few weeks so please ensure that the children in your Schools/Academy are aware of this fantastic scheme.

Finally we also have two caravans that we rent out based on the Naze Marine Holiday Park. One of the Caravan’s is modified for access and sleeps 8 people and the other is a 6 berth caravan. These caravans are walking distance to the beach and open to any families that have a child with a disability. Entertainment is on site and also an indoor and outdoor pool. Please call the centre if you would like any further information or availability.

If we can assist you with any further information or you would like us to come down and talk to you about what we do here at the centre and how we can assist you in anyway please do reach out via email or give me a call at the centre on the following number:
