Boys football 2015-2016

 

 

For the 2015-2016 season the squad of players have been separated into two teams. They have been called East and West.

The West team are managed by Mr Turton and the East team are managed by Mr Smith.

Mr Birtles will be manager for the cup competitions. Mr Birtles will pick the players who have performed most effectively over the season and whose behaviour has been at the expected standards both in and out of the classroom.

East team fixture update

 

The team kicked off the season with a solid 3-0 victory in the cup against Woodside. The team dominated the early proceedings missing a number of clear cut chances. Thankfully midway through the first half Yurila broke the deadlock with a good strike inside the box. A couple of fantastic saves by Sid kept the team in the lead with the game at 1-0 at half time. We started the second half well and continued to press which lead to two more goals from Jasandeep and Noah to round off a good cup win.  

 

There were plenty of positives to take from the team’s first game and also room for improvement which we will try our best to rectify to ensure we continue winning.

West Team Fixture Update

 

The start of the league season has been a learning curve for the West team. In our first game against Harris we unfortunately lost 1-0, even though we created a number of chances.

 

In our second league game of the season, finishing nearly came to haunt the team again.

We were 2-0 down despite having many chances to score. Jamie pulled one back just before half-time to give the team a bit of confidence. In the second half our domination showed as we came from 2-1 down to win 5-2, courtesy of a hat trick from Toniyi and a distance screamer from Freddie.

 

The team worked hard and never gave up, giving positive and encouraging comments to each other throughout the game.

 

After half term there are a couple of league games to prepare for in which the team will play away for the first time.
